Film ini berkisah tentang perenungan uskup pertama asli Indonesia, Monsinyur A Soegijapranata SJ, atau dikenal sebagai Soegija. Lebih dari sekedar tokoh agama, Soegija dituntut menjadi tokoh masyarakat yang mengatasi kekacauan selama masa penindasan Belanda, penjajahan Jepang, hingga kembalinya Belanda dari tahun 1940 sampai 1949. Atas jasa-jasanya, Presiden Sukarno memberikan penghargaan Pahlawan Nasional kepada Soegija.

The film revolves around the life of the first bishop of Indonesia, Monsiyur A Soegijapranata SJ, known as Soegija. More than being a religious leader, Soegija faces the tremendous hardship of being a peace-maker whom his people look to -- in order to establish order among a society torn by the Dutch invasion, the Japanese regime, and the repeated efforts by the Dutch to retake Indonesia from 1940 to 1949. At the end of his life, the former President Soekarno declared Soegija a National Hero.
